About RRNH
Our Mission
To provide an accessible, safe and welcoming environment, respond to community needs and encouraging opportunity, growth and well-being.
Robinson Reserve Neighbourhood House is a small, but growing, incorporated, not-for-profit organisation in the City of Moreland. It aims to promote community cohesion and wellbeing, and reduce social isolation. We excel in connecting people and in developing the skill base of the community.
Founded in 1988, Robinson Reserve Neighbourhood House is managed bya Committee of Management made up of local residents who have an interest in the community. We receive funding from various sources including Moreland City Council, ACFE, Department of Planning and Community Development and the Department of Early Eductaion and Childhood Development to assist us in the running of programs and activities.
We run various educational programs such as English classes for migrants, computer classes and other short courses. We also provide health and wellbeing programs to assist individuals to maintain a healthy outlook and positive life balance. There are also various social groups who meet regularly for a catch up and coffee as well as programs designed around leisure.
Robinson Reserve Neighbourhood House also runs an Occasional Childcare service specific to the needs of the local community and House users.
The Neighbourhood House is also a popular venue for playgroups, children’s and family events, and as a meeting space for local community groups.
Profile of House users
Around 170 people use the Neighbourhood House every week. Most live nearby in Pascoe Vale South, Brunswick and Coburg, but people also come from Glenroy, Fawkner, and as far as Reservoir and Avondale Heights.
While our programs and services are open to everyone, most people using the House are women. All age groups are represented, with users ranging in age from babies and toddlers in our Occasional Childcare service and playgroups, to retirees in our Computers for 50+ and English classes. A lot of people using the House are parents of pre-school aged children.
We aim to make our programs and services accessible to as many residents as possible and therefore fix our fees and charges accordingly.
As well as service users we also have a small but dedicated group of volunteers at the House. We also offer training and learning opportunities by providing work and student placements.
