What is Recognise?
Recognise is the national campaign to promote the Recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Australian Constitution. It is a part of Reconciliation Australia.
The Recognise campaign
- We must fix the historical exclusion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples from Australia’s Constitution.
- We also need to remove discrimination – such as the section of our Constitution which says the States can ban people from voting based on race.
- A referendum is coming that will give Australians a chance to vote to recognise Australia’s First Peoples in the Constitution.
